Submission Information for Authors and Illustrators

If you are a publisher, author or illustrator and would like to submit a book to be considered for the Red House Children's Book Award 2011, please read on to find out how.

Background

  • Established in 1980 (formerly The Children's Book Award)
  • Awarded in three categories
  • Owned and coordinated by the Federation of Children's Book Groups
  • Sponsored by Red House
  • Judged entirely by children from shortlist to final overall winner
  • Top 50 titles each year published in the Pick of the Year list
  • Top ten authors, illustrators and their publishers invited to the Award Ceremony in May
  • Top ten authors and illustrators receive portfolios of children's letters and pictures
  • Category winners receive an engraved silver book mark
  • Overall winner holds an oak and silver trophy for a year and keeps an engraved silver acorn

Submission Criteria

  • Any work of fiction first published in the UK in 2010 including titles previously published abroad
  • Retellings of folk/religious stories with significant original input
  • You should provide 12 copies of each title
  • Books to be sent on publication
  • Closing date 31 December 2010
