Each year the Red House Children's Book Award ceremony gets better and better! On the big day brilliant authors and book-loving children join together to celebrate, applaud and meet the worthy winners.

Thanks to an audience of around 900 enthusiastic children who gathered at London’s Southbank Centre, the 2012 Red House Children’s Book Award was one of the liveliest (and noisiest) ceremonies in the award’s history. Overall winner Patrick Ness, author of A Monster Calls, was presented with his trophy by previous year’s winner Michael Morpurgo. Authors Malorie Blackman and Steve Cole and illustrator Korky Paul helped announce the category winners and the event was expertly hosted by children’s comedian James Campbell.
