Biography

Jeanne Willis wrote her first book when she was five years old and hasn't stopped writing since. She has now written over eighty titles, including picture books, novels and television scripts. She has also won numerous awards, including the Children's Book Award, the Sheffield Children's Book Award and the Silver Smarties Prize. Jeanne's most recent titles include The King of Tiny Things and Sing A Song of Bottoms!, which will publish in 2010.

On top of the world- even if I come bottom.
How would you describe Bottoms Up! in five words?
It's a load of buttocks.
Where did you get your inspiration for Bottoms Up!?
I've been sitting on the idea for ages.
What is your favourite part about writing for children?
The beginning, the middle and the end.
What is your favourite children's book?
Paddington
Where is your favourite place in the world?
The little sunny place inside my head.
What's your favourite joke?
A man goes into a pet shop and says, "I want to buy a wasp."
'Sorry, we don't sell wasps," says the owner.
"That's odd." Says the man, "You've got one in the window."
If you had any super power what would it be?
To talk to the animals.
What makes you laugh?
When my cat falls off the sofa.
Who is your hero?
Batman.
